Child Health
Childhood Immunisations
Immunisations start at two months of age and your child will receive an appointment from the child health team. If an injection is missed due to illness then appointments can be made with the practice nurse. Please talk to our team if you want to discuss any queries.
Health Checks
Blood Pressure Checks
There is a machine available to check your blood pressure located in the waiting room on the ground floor. This is in a screened off area to provide privacy when you are taking your readings. It is simple to use and instructions are provided, but if you need any further help please contact one of our receptionists.
Bowel Cancer Screening
Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK.
Bowel cancer screening is currently offered to everyone aged 54 to 74 every 2 years.
It uses a test to look for blood in a sample of your poo. This could be a sign of bowel cancer.
You collect the sample at home and send it by post to be tested.
It can help find cancer early, and before you have any symptoms, which may mean it's easier to treat.
Mental Health Reviews
These reviews are carried out by our clinicians. Patients are invited once a year to attend for a review.

Sexual and Reproductive Health
Cervical Screening
We offer a cervical cytology service which is carried out by our specially trained nurses. All females between the ages of 25 to 64 years are notified when their cervical cytology test is due. Patients will receive written notification of the result.
Chlamydia
This is an easily caught, sexually transmitted infection and there is a lot of it about. Approximately 1 in 10 people screened show positive. If not treated it can cause infertility. Screening is available at the practice for men and women aged between 15 to 24. A urine specimen is all that is required and the result is totally confidential, even your doctor will not know if you are positive. Please ask for further details from a member of the reception team.
Family Planning/Contraception
Advice regarding contraception is available with our family planning nurses. Please be aware that you will need to see the nurse every six months to review your prescription for the contraception pill.
We also offer coil and implant fittings and removal. Please contact the surgery if you would like to discuss these options.
Other Options
Carers
Do you look after someone who is ill, frail, disabled or mentally ill? If so, you are a carer. We are interested in identifying carers, especially those people who may be caring without help or support. We know that carers are often ‘hidden’ looking after a family member or helping a friend or neighbour with day-to-day tasks and may not see themselves as a carer.
We feel that caring for someone is an important and valuable role in the community, which is often a 24-hour job that can be very demanding and isolating for the carer. We further believe carers should receive appropriate support by way of access to accurate information on a range of topics such as entitlement to benefits and respite care and not least, a listening ear when things get too much.
As a carer, you are also entitled to have your needs assessed by Adult Care Services. A carer’s assessment is a chance to talk about your needs as a carer and the possible ways help could be given. It also looks at the needs of the person you care for. This could be done separately or together, depending on the situation. There is no charge for an assessment.
If you are a carer, this is an opportunity to let the Practice know so that we can update our records and pass on your details to the Carers Service who can provide relevant information and advice, local support services, newsletter and telephone linkline. We can also refer you to Adult Care Services for a carer’s assessment.
Carers are encouraged to attend for an annual health check with a social prescriber and you will also be encouraged to have an influenza vaccination once a year.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Maternity
Antenatal and postnatal care is shared with the community midwives. If you are pregnant and want more information or want to register with the local midwifery service visit Northamptonshire Maternity Services.
All maternity bookings are made through this link with the midwives at Kettering General Hospital and within the community.
Minor Illness
Patients with new problems can see a senior nurse for a consultation. Examples are: injuries to back, neck and head, sore eyes, rashes and skin problems, ears, throat and chest, acute asthma, abdominal, urinary and women's health problems, emergency contraception/missed pills. The senior nurses are able to issue prescriptions and immediately call upon a doctor if necessary therefore a second appointment would not be necessary. When contacting the practice to book an appointment the receptionist will ask for some brief details regarding the request to enable them to direct you to the appropriate clinician.
Minor Surgery
The Practice undertakes minor surgery to help save long waits for hospital treatment. Suitable procedures include removal of warts, moles, skin lesions etc. Your doctor will be pleased to discuss any enquiry you may have.
We also offer regular joint injection clinics to help relieve the symptoms of chronic conditions such as arthritis.
National Vaccination Programmes
Flu vaccinations
In the early Autumn, flu vaccinations are offered to our patients. We strongly advise vaccination for those considered to be at risk i.e. patients aged 65 and over and those with heart, respiratory, kidney, liver or chronic neurological disease, asthma, diabetes, immunosuppression and pregnant women, also patients living in long stay residential care homes and carers.

Pneumonia vaccinations
If you are 65 or over or have serious breathing problems, heart or kidney disease, long-term liver disease, diabetes requiring medication or are immunosuppressed you are strongly advised to have a Pneumonia Vaccination. Please ask at reception.
Further information on pheumonia vaccinations is available on the NHS website
RSV
The RSV vaccine helps protect against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a common virus that can make babies and older adults seriously ill. It's recommended during pregnancy and for adults aged 75 to 79.
Further information about RSV vaccinations is available on the NHS website
Shingles
The shingles vaccine helps protect against shingles. It's recommended for all adults turning 65, those aged 70 to 79 and those aged 50 and over with a severely weakened immune system.

Weight Loss Medications on the NHS Like Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®)
Important information for patients
From 23 June 2025, the NHS is making new weight loss medications available to a limited number of eligible patients. These treatments include Tirzepatide (brand name Mounjaro®), alongside other medicines approved for managing obesity.
These medications are not available to everyone. Due to limited NHS resources, only patients who meet strict eligibility criteria and are at highest risk of obesity-related health issues will be prioritised.
Who is eligible?
To be considered for an NHS prescription of a weight loss medication, such as Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®), you must meet all three of the following criteria:
1. Have a BMI over 40 (or 37.5 for people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean ethnic backgrounds)
Check your BMI using the NHS calculator.
2. Have been diagnosed with four out of the five following health conditions:
- Type 2 diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease
- Obstructive sleep apnoea
- Abnormal blood fats (dyslipidaemia)
3. Have an assessment with a GP at our practice.
What to do before contacting the practice
To help us assess your eligibility more quickly:
- Please make sure your height, weight and BMI are up to date in your medical record. If your practice has a Health Kiosk, you can use it to record this. If not, you can check your height and weight at home and call the practice after 12 noon with the details.
- Log in to your online medical record to check if you have four or more of the health conditions listed above. You can do this using the NHS App or SystmOnline.
- Read more about NHS weight loss medication options, including Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) to help decide if they may be suitable for you.
What to expect at your appointment
If you think you meet the criteria, please book an appointment with the practice.
At your appointment, the GP will:
- Confirm whether you meet the eligibility criteria.
- Assess whether weight loss medication is appropriate and safe for you
If eligible (and depending on your local Integrated Care Board pathway) you will either:
- Be referred to a local Weight Management Service, or
- Be prescribed a suitable weight loss medication (e.g. Tirzepatide/Mounjaro®) directly
You will also be offered diet and lifestyle support, which you must participate in to continue treatment.
If you're not eligible
If you do not meet the current criteria for NHS weight loss medication, we can still help.
Our social prescribing team can support you in accessing local services, resources, and healthy lifestyle advice tailored to your needs.
The eligibility criteria for NHS weight loss medication may change in the future. We will update this page if NHS guidance is updated.
Please help us prepare by ensuring your height, weight and BMI have been checked and recorded in your medical record.
Private prescriptions
We cannot issue private prescriptions for weight loss medications.
If you access medication privately, the private provider is responsible for your prescribing and monitoring.
Please ensure your private provider has your full medical history and a list of current medications.
Additional advice for patients using contraception or HRT
Contraception
Weight loss medications such as Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) may affect how your body absorbs the contraceptive pill.
If you take oral contraception, please use another method (such as condoms) for extra protection.
You can also contact us to talk about alternative contraception options.
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
Tablet forms of HRT may be less effective when taken with some weight loss medicines. You may want to consider switching to patches or gels that absorb through the skin. You can contact us to talk about which option is right for you.
