Open Day at Headlands Surgery

We are inviting our patients and members of the local community to join us for an Open Day at Headlands Surgery on Saturday 13 June 2026, from 10am to 1pm.

The free event is an opportunity to meet our surgery team, learn more about local health services, and find out how the practice and our Patient Participation Group (PPG) work together to support patients and the wider community.

A special feature of the day will be a history display celebrating the story of Headlands Surgery and its place within the local community over the years. Visitors will be able to explore photographs, information, and displays looking back at the history of the surgery and how healthcare services have evolved locally.

During the event, you will also be able to speak with our clinical and support teams about the wide range of services available through the practice, including minor surgery and joint injections.

Practical support will also be available for patients who would like help using NHS services and digital tools, including Anima, ordering repeat prescriptions online, and using the NHS App.

Visitors can also try our new health kiosk, designed to provide quick and simple health checks, with staff on hand throughout the day to offer demonstrations and guidance.

You will also have the opportunity to speak with our Learning Disability Champion to find out more about the support available for patients with learning disabilities and their families.

Members of our Patient Participation Group (PPG) will be available throughout the event to talk about the work they do, the projects and activities they support, and how patients can have their voices heard. The group works closely with the practice to help improve services, support community initiatives, and represent the views of patients. Visitors can also find out how to get involved with the PPG and support future projects and activities.

The event will also help raise awareness of, and support for, the PPG’s ongoing fundraising project to purchase a 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitor for the surgery. The project has been supported by the PPG for several years, and the group is now getting closer to reaching its fundraising goal.

Dr Omar Ali, GP Partner at Headlands Surgery, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming patients and members of the community to our Open Day and PPG fundraising event.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to meet the teams behind the services, ask questions, and find out more about the support available.

“We’re especially excited to share the history display, which celebrates the surgery’s long-standing connection with the community and the people it has cared for over the years.

“The event also gives patients the chance to learn more about the important role the Patient Participation Group plays in helping us improve services, strengthen links with the community, and support projects that benefit patients locally.”

Peter Woolliscroft, PPG Chairman and member, said: “The PPG plays an important role within the surgery. It is made up of patients who volunteer their time to meet regularly and act as a link between patients and the practice. The group discusses key issues affecting patients and is often joined by a clinician, giving patients the opportunity to share feedback and experiences directly. The PPG also raises funds to help purchase equipment and resources that support and improve services for patients.”

Anyone interested in joining the surgery or finding out more about the PPG will be able to speak to the team and register on the day.
