How to Request a Home Visit

Telephone: 01536 518 886

If you are housebound or too ill to come to the surgery and a visit is necessary at home, please telephone the surgery between 08:30 and 10:30. Visits are normally made after morning surgery and can take considerably longer than a consultation in surgery. It is practice policy that non-housebound patients attend the surgery.

When requesting a visit, you will be asked a few questions about the problem. This helps the doctors to assess the urgency of the visit so they can plan their rounds to see urgent cases first.

The doctor may telephone the person requesting the visit to obtain more information and may ask the patient to come to the surgery. A request for a home visit does not necessarily mean that the doctor will visit. It is the doctor who decides what course of action is the most appropriate.
