New GPs
Our practice is a training practice for new GPs. This
means that
doctors who are fully qualified and training to become general
practitioners, will be consulting at the surgery and may also be sitting
in on surgeries of the existing doctors. They, or the other doctors, may
be videotaping the consultations for training purposes. You will be
asked for your permission prior to seeing the doctor if a registrar
doctor is sitting in or videotaping is planned. If you are unhappy with
the registrar being present or videotaping let the receptionist know at
the time of your appointment and it will not occur.
The recording is only used by the tutor doctor and general practitioner
registrar - it is then erased. Occasionally we have visiting doctors to
assess us to ensure our standards are acceptable. These are the only
other people who will see the video. We enjoy having these doctors with
us - it helps them and keeps us on our toes - please consult with them
as any other doctor in the practice.
Medical Students
The practice provides placements for medical
students. The students may carry out consultations with the GP which
may be videotaped. Whenever a student is sitting in, or videotaping
is planned, you will be asked to give your permission prior to
seeing the doctor. If you are not happy with the student being
present, consulting or videotaping, let the receptionist know at the
time of your appointment and it will not occur. The recording is
only used for training purposes by the student and tutor doctor – it
is then erased.
Students
Occasionally the practice nurses, health visitors, midwives and district
nurses may have students working with them.
