Antenatal Clinics

  • Run by the community midwives, appointments necessary. Parentcraft and relaxation classes will be arranged by them.

Asthma Clinic

  • Run by the practice nurses by appointment only. Everyone with asthma should be seen once a year for a routine check.

Bowel Cancer Screening

  • This is the third most common cancer in the UK, and the second leading cause of cancer deaths. Bowel cancer screening aims to detect this disease at an early stage (in people with no symptoms), when treatment is more likely to be effective. All men and women aged 60-69 will be sent an invitation directly from the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. If you have not been invited please telephone Freephone 0800 707 60 60.

Cardiovascular Clinic

  • Run by the practice nurses by appointment only.

Cervical Smears

  • All women aged between 25 - 49 are invited for a routine smear test on a three yearly basis. Women aged 50 - 64 will be invited on a five yearly basis. Please make an appointment with the practice nurse.

Child Development Assessment

  • the health visitors run a programme for development checks, appointment made via the health visitors.

Child Immunisation Clinics

  • The health visitors carry out childhood immunisations. Appointments are sent by post but if you are unable to attend, please telephone to cancel and another appointment will be sent to you. The doctors feel it is important that all children should have their immunisations unless there is good medical reason why they should not be given. If you have any doubts one of the health visitors or doctors will discuss these with you.

Chlamydia Screening

  • This is an easily caught, sexually transmitted infection and there is a lot of it about. Approximately 1 in 10 people screened show positive. If not treated it can cause infertility. Screening is available at the practice for men and women aged between 15 and 25. A urine specimen is all that is required and the result is totally confidential – even your doctor will not know if you are positive.

Diabetic Clinic

  • Run by the practice nurses by appointment only. Everyone with diabetes should ensure they are seen once a year for a routine check.

Epilepsy Clinic

  • Run by the practice nurses by appointment only. Everyone with epilepsy should ensure they are seen once a year for a routine check.

Family Planning/Contraception

  • All doctors cover all aspects of family planning during normal surgery hours. Advice regarding contraception is available with the doctor or practice nurses. Please be aware that you will need to see your doctor every six months to review your prescription for  the contraceptive pill.

Flu Vaccination Clinics

  • In the early autumn, flu vaccinations are offered to our patients. We strongly advise vaccination for those considered to be at risk (i.e. patients aged 65 and over and those with heart disease, asthma or diabetes)

Mental Health Reviews

  • Carried out by the practice nurses and a primary care mental health nurse. Patients are invited once a year to attend for a review.

Smoking Cessation Clinics

  • Advice and medication (including nicotine replacement therapy) is provided by the practice nurses. If you are serious about giving up smoking please obtain a Smoking Questionnaire from reception. Once this form has been completed and returned to us you will be asked to contact our reception team who will arrange an appointment with the appropriate practice nurse.

Travel Clinics

  • The practice nurse will be pleased to offer advice on general health matters for patients who intend to travel abroad. Information is available for recommended vaccinations, all of which can be arranged at the surgery (with exception of Yellow Fever). Please ask at reception for a Foreign Travel form or download and print the form by clicking on the link below. Please return the form at least six weeks prior to travel to one of our receptionist, who will advise you on when to contact us for further advice or to arrange an appointment if required.

    Please note:   Not all vaccinations are available on the NHS. Anti-malarial are issued on a private prescription.
